The fourth annual Nordic Roots Festival will be held September 20-22, 2002 at the Cedar Cultural Center on the West Bank in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The complete festival line-up is now set! The following artists are scheduled to appear:
  • Friday, Sept. 20: Nordic Dance with Roo Lester - Instructor Roo will offer lessons and focus on welcoming people to Nordic turning dances including polska and gammaldans. It is not necessary to bring a partner, but hard soled shoes are desirable for turning (i.e. tennis shoes don't work as well).
      $8 at the door/1 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 20: Väsen (the original trio: Olov Johansson, Mikael Marin and Roger Tallroth) and Ellika Frisell with special guest Joe Chvala
      $20 advance / $25 day of show / 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 21: Harv
      $16 advance / $20 day of show / 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 21: Garmarna and The Hurdy Gurdy Project (with Stefan Brisland-Ferner of Garmarna and Totte Mattsson of Hedningarna). The Hurdy Gurdy Project will open.
      $20 adavance / $25 day of show / 8 p.m. **This show is SOLD OUT!
  • Sunday, Sept. 22: The Helsinki Mandoliners (Arto Järvelä, Petri Hakala and Olli Varis)
      $16 advance / $20 day of show / 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 22: The Mari Boine show has been canceled due to illness. The members of Hedningarna will come together for a special performance, including original singer Tellu. They will perform along with Wimme. Wimme will open for Hedningarna.
      $20 advance / $25 day of show / 8 p.m. *tickets on sale now

  • Workshop Schedule: Workshops will be held on Saturday and Sunday of the festival at Ferguson Hall, University of Minnesota's School of Music.
Festival Passes are $90 which includes preferred seating. Limited in number.
Tickets are on sale immediately through the Cedar reservation line (612-338-2674, ext. 2) and are available at all outlets starting Tuesday, July 9, 2002.
